The Lunda Royal Establishment of Mwata Kazembe has rejected the mechanism employed in the 2025 Constitution Amendment process, formally recusing itself from making any submissions.
In its written communication to the Technical Committee, the Kazembe Lunda Royal Establishment emphasized that the process should be driven by the collective will of the people, rather than being steered by the Executive through the Ministry of Justice.
And Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR) Deputy Director, Reverend Boyd Nyirenda, has criticised the process as rushed and politically driven, warning that constitutional reform must not be subjected to expediency.
Public submissions to the Technical Committee on Drafting Amendments to the Constitution of Zambia have since concluded at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.
