Acting Patriotic Front President Given Lubinda has announced major changes to the party’s central committee, dropping several senior members and appointing new leaders to key positions.
Mr. Lubinda has removed Musonda Mpankata, Brenda Nyirenda, Melisiana Phiri, former Secretary General Davis Mwila, as well as Northern Province Chairperson Chomba Chipili and Lusaka Province Chairperson Christopher Shakafuswa.
Also dropped are Western Province representative Mr. Tombi Tombi and North-Western Province representative Abute Kawambu.
Most of those dropped have publicly indosed his competitors as preferred candidates take up the party’s top position.
To fill some of the vacant positions, Mr. Lubinda has appointed Jean Kapata as Acting National Chairperson of the party.
He has further appointed two Deputy Secretary Generals Miles Bwalya Sampa as Deputy Secretary General for Politics and
Counsel Celestine Mukandila as Deputy Secretary General for Administration
Mr. Lubinda has welcomed the newly appointed members and urged them to serve the party diligently.
