United Party for National Development (UPND) official Charles Longwe has reinitiated a legal lawsuit challenging the leadership of the party.
Yesterday, the Lusaka High Court dismissed a case challenging the leadership of the United Party for National Development (UPND), a move that has prompted the petitioner, Charles Longwe, to resubmit a writ of summons.
Mr. Longwe has cited the party’s Secretary General, Batuka Imenda.
In this matter, Mr. Longwe argued that the party’s leadership term had expired.
This is according to a document dated 8th April 2026 seen by Diamond News.
He had sued the party for failing to hold an elective general conference, contrary to both the national and party constitutions, asking the court to declare the National Management Committee, which was ushered into office on February 14, 2021, as operating illegally, in accordance with Article 56 of the party constitution.
