Some Small Medium Enterprises SME’s in Chilanga’s Freedom Compound have had their shops closed due to long hours of load shedding.
The affected SMEs are unable to afford alternative sources of energy amidst the over 12 hours of load shedding from ZESCO.
Moses Banda who owns a stationary shop says he has stopped operating as a result of the ongoing energy situation.
And a bar owner Catherine Kumwendo says her income has reduced because customers have not been buying her unrefrigerated alcoholic beverages.
Zambia has been affected by a power deficit of 450 megawatts as a result of the drought situation.
