10-year-old Jacob Likezo, a boy from Livingstone’s Dambwa Site and Service, who suffers from speech and hearing impairments has attempted to enroll at several inclusive schools to no avail because teachers say he is disruptive.
Jacob’s mother, Sophia Siantombo, emotionally explained to Diamond News that her son also battles societal stigma which has a negative psychological impact on him.
Ms. Siantombo adds that taking care of her son has not been easy as the bi-monthly K800 she receives from the Social Cash Transfer program is not enough to cater to his numerous needs.
She has called on well-wishers to come to her aid.
Meanwhile, the Livingstone District Education Board Secretary is yet to comment on the matter.
