LIVINGSTONE MAN DROWNS AFTER RAINS DAMAGE CROSSING POINT

.

A 28-year-old a man identified as Alex Mubita of Malon Compound in Livingstone District Southern Zambia has drowned while attempting to cross Kabila Stream following a heavy downpour.

The incident is believed to have happened around 20:00 hours on Monday when the victim was reportedly swept away by a strong current as he tried to make his way home from work.

The crossing point, which had recently been constructed using Constituency Development Fund (CDF) resources, is said to have been severely damaged by the rains, making it unsafe for use.

Although police had not yet issued an official statement at the time of reporting, local residents confirmed the identity of the deceased and have since retrieved the body, awaiting collection by relevant authorities.

Meanwhile, some members of the community have expressed frustration over the condition of the infrastructure, alleging that poor workmanship by contractors may have contributed to the collapse of the crossing point.
