The Lusaka High Court has granted Lima Member of Parliament Kelvin Kaunda K30,000 cash bail pending trial in a case in which he is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The court has also ordered Mr Kaunda to provide two traceable working sureties, each bound in the sum of K30,000.
Mr Kaunda was arrested on October 15, 2026, over an alleged assault during campaign roadshows in Lusaka.
Meanwhile, Mr Kaunda has closed his defence case in a petition challenging his election as Lima MP, with the Electoral Commission of Zambia, the second respondent, now expected to present its case.
The petition was filed by losing UPND candidate Lee Mukupa, who is seeking to nullify Mr Kaunda’s election.
