Several makeshift shops have been destroyed by the Lusaka City Council in Shantumbu area.

Makeshift owners cite the exercise as unfair because they were allegedly not given notice to vacate the land leading to the loss of property.

Precious Chilai, a makeshift owner complains that her little business used to be the source of income for her family, hence she does not know how she will restart her economic survival.

A restaurant owner, only identified as Suwilanji is demanding compensation.

Others found at the scene, plead with the government to come to their aid because the demolition has disrupted their livelihood in a time the economy is hitting hard the less privileged.

The Lusaka City Council is yet to give a position on the matter.
