LCC ISSUES WARNING TO UNREGISTERED EATERIES, DEMANDS FULL COMPLIANCE

.

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has expressed concern over the increasing number of unregistered eateries operating across the city in contravention of the Food Safety Act No. 7 of 2019.

In a statement issued by Lusaka City Council Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba, the local authority is urging all restaurant owners to comply with the law to protect members of the public from consuming uncertified food that may be unfit for human consumption.

The Council is calling on operators of illegal eateries to immediately formalise their businesses with the Council’s Public Health Department and ensure they operate only from designated and approved premises.

LCC further has further warned that it will continue conducting routine inspections across Lusaka and that those found operating illegally will face appropriate legal action, while members of the public have been advised to patronise only certified eateries as the Council reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public health.
