US-based Striker Rachael Kundananji has been left out of the 29-member Copper Queens provisional squad named by Head Coach Nora Häuptle, as preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations intensify.
The Bay FC forward has missed out due to travel challenges stemming from the ongoing US–Iran war, which has also affected the availability of several foreign-based players.
The Zambian FA has revealed that the affected players could join camp once the situation stabilises.
In a major boost for the squad, captain Barbra Banda has returned after being sidelined in recent months through injury.
Häuptle has maintained faith in the core of the 23-player squad that secured bronze at the COSAFA tournament, while further strengthening the team with additional call-ups from players plying their trade abroad ahead of the continental showpiece.
