
The ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) in Kazungula District, Southern Zambia, has conducted peaceful district and constituency elections, officials have confirmed.
Speaking after the declaration of new office bearers at Kabuyu Primary School, Electoral Officer Powell Muntenguna described the polls as peaceful and urged party members to maintain the same spirit of unity.
Mr. Muntenguna stated that the absence of complaints from participants is a clear indication that the electoral process was fair and transparent.
Other observers also attested to the credibility of the elections, describing them as free and fair.
The elections saw Siasiloka Mukuni retain the position of District Chairperson, deputised by Kenford Siansole while Shebby Mushabati was re-elected as Constituency Chairperson.
In other results, Teddy Mulambo retained his position as Vice Chairperson, while Beaver Muchindu was elected unopposed as Party Secretary. Martin Mushabati has been elected as party Coordinator for Politics.
