Kawambwa Town Council Chairperson Kalumba Chifumbe has warned contractors that are failing to complete projects under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) within the stipulated time frame.
Speaking after a three-day tour of various projects in Kawambwa Central and Pambeshe Constituencies in Luapula Province, Mr. Chifumbe says unnecessary extension of CDF projects is delaying the development agenda in the district.
Mr. Chifumbe says the government is spending huge sums of money on the projects hence the need for the contractors to supplement government’s efforts by applying quality works and value for money.
The Council Chairperson adds that contractors that fail to do a good job, risk not being engaged in future projects as they are frustrating the development agenda.
Mr. Chifumbe has, however, commended the majority of contractors who have produced quality works which are according to the agreed specifications and timeframe.
He has also urged the local authority to intensify monitoring of projects in order to have quality infrastructure.
