A businessman in Kasama has allegedly been attacked by suspected United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres over his alleged affiliation with the Patriotic Front (PF) leadership.
The businessman has told journalists that the suspected cadres, armed with pangas and knives, assaulted him, removed the number plate from his vehicle, and later drove it away.
The victim, identified as Abel Lombe, was reportedly in conversation with PF officials at Buseko in Kasama’s Location area at the time of the incident.
Mr. Lombe further alleged that he was initially hit with stones before sustaining injuries during the attack.
Meanwhile, the UPND National Management Committee has refuted the allegations, stating that anyone found wanting will be held accountable should the claims be proven true.
