Residents of Kanyama Compound in Lusaka have attributed the recent outbreak of diarrhea cases in the area to the lack of clean and safe drinking water.
Mwamba Banda, a local resident, explained that two weeks ago, the area experienced intermittent water supply, forcing some residents to consume potentially contaminated water. This disruption in the water supply is believed to be a major contributing factor to the outbreak.
Banda has urged the government to take immediate action to address the water crisis and ensure that the area has a reliable supply of clean drinking water. Additionally, he has called for increased sensitization efforts to educate residents about the outbreak and the importance of practicing good hygiene to prevent the spread of disease.
Last week, the National Public Health Institute announced the outbreak of diarrhea cases in several parts of Lusaka, including Kanyama Compound. The institute is closely monitoring the situation and working to contain the outbreak.
The outbreak has raised concerns about the public health infrastructure in Lusaka and the need for improved access to essential services like clean water and sanitation. The government is urged to take decisive steps to address these issues and prevent future outbreaks.
