Patriotic Front (PF) Member Chishimba Kambwili has been released from prison after completing his five-month sentence for hate speech.
However, he remains detained at Lusaka Central Correctional Facility, commonly known as Chimbokaila, following a warrant of detention issued by the Immigration Department.
The department arrested Mr. Kambwili on October 22, 2025, while he was still in prison custody, for allegedly failing to present himself to an immigration officer for exit clearance — an offence contrary to Section 16(1) of the Immigration and Deportation Act No. 18 of 2010.
His lawyer, Kennedy Mambwe, has told Diamond News that he is awaiting a response from the Immigration Department on his request for his client to be granted bond pending a court appearance.
