A combined team of officers from Kalomo Town Council and the Zambia Police have successfully removed vendors from the street following a countrywide campaign to end street vending.
Kalomo Town Council Public Relations Officer, Mary Muponda, says the vendors had caused a health uproar thereby compromising hygiene to their goods and general cleanliness of the town.
She adds that others had blocked access roads.
Ms. Muponda reveals that there is enough space to accommodate all the displaced vendors in designated trading places, adding that the local authority will put up a monitoring mechanism to ensure compliance.
Meanwhile, the vendors have complained against their removal from the streets, describing the move as inhumane and threatening to vote out the UPND regime in the 2026 General Election.
