Kabwe’s streets are seeing a new kind of patrol, as dog registration clocks one week.
It is part of a push to maintain order before the dogs are cropped, with a goal to register 500 vaccinated canines this quarter.
Spread across all 29 wards, the programe is gaining traction, says Kabwe Municipal Council Public Health Director Christopher Mtonga, who’s calling on owners of more than two dogs to step forward.
But amidst the progress, a cautionary note from breeder Alex Mukuka is to steer clear of reckless breeding and keep the pets muzzled and leashed.
It’s a response to a growing concern, as Zambia grapples with dangerous dog attacks.
