The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set 21st October 2022 as the date for by-elections, in Kwacha and Kabushi Constituencies.
This is according to a statement issued to Diamond News, signed by three ECZ commissioners; namely Ambassadors Ali Simwinga, and Ndiyoi Mutiti, and Major General Vincent Mukanda.
The commission says campaign period starts today, until Thursday, 20th October 2022.
However, Patriotic Front (PF) Acting President, Given Lubinda says his party is displeased with the decision made by ECZ.
Mr. Lubinda says a conclusive position will be issued later.
Last month, the Lusaka High Court suspended the Kwacha and Kabushi Parliamentary By-Elections, pending the determination of the petition, in which former PF lawmakers Joseph Malanji and Bowman Lusambo, had challenged the decision by the ECZ, to reject their nomination papers
