Livingstone Mayor Constance Muleabai says it is time people took the issues of climate change seriously as the effects are evident through unpredictable rainfall pattern.
Speaking when Water Development and Sanitation Minister, Mike Mposha paid a courtesy call to her office, Ms. Muleabai disclosed that the local authority is strict on cutting of trees and perpetrators are made to pay a K750 fine for one tree.
She says people must change their mindset and begin to protect the environment because the effects will be devastating.
And Mr. Mposha has assured Livingstone residents that challenges of water supply and sanitation will be addressed.
