A group of notorious young people known as junkies have persisted in Lusaka’s Garden Park area where they recently attacked a female bartender.
In an interview with Diamond News, Doris Daanga recounts the horrific attack by the junkies who pounced on her premises one evening last week.
A traumatized Ms. Daanga says the criminals were carrying offensive weapons and when they entered the building they ordered patrons to lie down and begun beating them, while they took their belongings.
She recounts seeing the junkies steal her prized possessions namely a Television set, an amplifier, decoder and some speakers the victim uses to entertain her customers.
Meanwhile, when contacted for a comment, Kanyama Member of Parliament Monty Chinkuli says his office is engaging the police to work with the community to tackle the unending criminality.
And a Psychologist Pelekelo Mwiya says some broken homes have contributed to the rise of young people engaging in gangs that commit heinous crimes.
The incident has occurred amid ongoing police raids on junkies in a bid to end their terror that, however, seems to elude authorities.
