The death of a 33-year-old male of Ndele Village in Kazungula District, in Southern Province has triggered outrage after agitated community members refused authorities to pick the body of a latest victim of the continued human-animal conflict.

Details are that Banian Majaluwa, a local farmer was in search of his donkeys in preparation to transport vegetable produce when he met a stray elephant from the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park.

Later, police arrived to pick the body, but their presence agitated a mob that threatened to burn the government motor vehicle.

Wildlife authorities are yet to issue a statement, however recently they informed Diamond News that revamping the collapsed wildlife fence and community sensitization are among the measures underway to mitigate the deadly human-animal conflict.
