A 21-year-old man of Lusaka’s John-Howard area in Zambia’s capital city Lusaka is nursing a serious head injury after, allegedly, being brutalized by a police officer while in custody.

The victim identified as Enock Nyumba tells Diamond News that a knife was used during the gruesome incident.

Mr. Nyumba who is at pains to narrate the ordeal says the incident happened when the police officer only identified as Sergeant Kasani was cutting his dreadlocks.

He says it was during the tense moment that skin was sliced off his skull hence resulting in a wound.

Mr. Nyundu says efforts to settle the matter amicably with the said officer have not yielded a positive result.

Because of the situation, his uncle Elasto Sikwale has appealed to the police high command to intervene in the case.

When contacted, Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale has disclosed that an investigation has been launched.
