Former Petauke Central MP Emmanuel Banda has approached the Lusaka High Court through his mother, Grace Banda, seeking an order compelling whoever is holding him in custody to produce him before court and justify his detention.
In the application for a writ of habeas corpus, the family says it has been unable to access or establish his exact whereabouts since his apprehension in Mozambique on October 14, 2026.
The application, in which Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha is the respondent, asks the court to examine the legality of Mr Banda’s continued detention and safeguard his right to personal liberty.
