The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), Mwangala Zaloumis, says criticism and insults from some members of the public do not worry the commission as it prepares to conduct the 2026 General Election.
Ms. Zaloumis said criticism will always exist, but the commission remains focused on doing what is right for the Zambian people.
The ECZ Chairperson said this shortly after attending Mass at St John’s Catholic Evangelist Parish in Kasama.
She also urged members of the public to continue praying for leaders instead of fighting them, noting that such support helps leaders provide good leadership.
And Parish Chairperson Evans Kambole expressed gratitude that Ms. Zaloumis attended Mass with the congregation.
Earlier, Ms. Zaloumis disclosed that her visits to six provinces so far, as the commission receives provincial delimitation reports, have indicated that many people are requesting more constituencies than the 70 provided for in the Constitution.
The ECZ Chairperson is in Kasama District in Northern Province for the Provincial Delimitation sittings scheduled for tomorrow, March 16, 2026.
