Zambia’s annual rate of inflation for February 2023 has increased to 9.6 percent from 9.4 percent in January.
Zambia Statistics Agency (ZAMSTATS) Interim Statistician General, Mulenga Musepa says the increase is mainly attributed to increase in prices of non-food items such as
fuels and lubricants such as diesel, petrol and charcoal.
Mr. Musepa adds that the annual non-food inflation for February 2023 increased to 6.9 percent from 6.5 percent in January 2023.
He adds that the overall monthly inflation for February 2023 was recorded at 1.9 percent compared to 2.1 percent in January, 2023 owing to a decrease in prices of selected food items.
