Auditor General Dr. Dick Sichembe says it is frustrating that no action is taken against officers cited for misappropriation of public resources.
He says reports are released year in year out but little is being done about the suspected culprits.
He made the remarks during the release of the latest Auditor General report on the accounts of the Republic for the financial year ending December 31, 2021.
He has revealed that the Ministry of Local government spent 40.2 million dollars instead of 30 million dollars under the Lusaka City Decongestion project.
The project had a scope of works which included the construction of four (4) flyover bridges.
According to the report, the Ministry did not offer any justification on why such a huge sum of money was spent.
Aside from that, the report has also revealed that the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services irregularly paid ineligible beneficiaries of the social cash transfer scheme in five (5) districts an amount of K 232,200.
