An Indian national, identified as Suleiman Dasu, and a Zambian, Aaron Chomba Singwa, have allegedly swindled over 60 soya bean farmers out of K73 million.
The duo are said to have acted as middlemen in the supply of soya beans to Alliance Ginneries Limited.
One of the affected farmers, Christopher Phiri, has told Diamond News that after the supply was made, Alliance Ginneries Limited paid Mr. Dasu, but the farmers never received their money.
Another farmer, Henry Tembo, says he has suffered losses as a result of the scam and has called for the suspects to be arrested and compelled to pay back the money owed to the farmers.
Zambia Police Service spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has confirmed the arrest of the two suspects.
