The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has directed broadcasting stations to ensure that all opinion polls aired during the election period clearly disclose their sources, sponsors, sample size, and other relevant information.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka, IBA Director General Webster Malido said broadcasters must also ensure fair, balanced, and impartial election coverage for all political parties and candidates.
Mr. Malido said broadcasting stations are required to allocate advertising airtime equitably to guarantee fair access for political parties and candidates during campaigns.
He further stated that the announcement of election results should only be based on verified and officially confirmed information.
Meanwhile, Mr. Malido denied claims that the authority issued any directive to media houses to stop airing an interview involving former Zambia Intelligence Services officer Xavier Chungu.
Mr. Chungu, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, is among the 14 aspiring presidential candidates who successfully filed nominations to contest the 2026 General Elections.
