Former Republican President Edgar has vowed to contest the 2026 general election under the Patriotic Front PF Party.
Mr. Lungu who is faced with a petition at the Constitutional Court challenging his eligibility to contest the 2021 and future elections, contends that nothing will stop him from contesting the election because he is an eligible candidate.
Meanwhile, ahead of the hearing of Mr. Lungu’s eligibility case on Thursday September 26, 2024, three constitutional court judges namely Palan Mulonda, Anne Sitali and Mungeni Mulenga were suspended by President Hakainde Hichilema.
The suspended judges were part of the bench that heard the 2016 Presidential Petition.
