Zambia’s 400m athlete Muzala Samukonga says he has delivered after minting bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games with a time of 44.74 seconds, a new personal best and National record.
Speaking after the race, Samukonga says last season was terrible for him, following his hamstring injury that ruled him out of many international competitions, hence, he took 2024 personal with the goal to finish in the medal bracket for all races.
Entering the home straight, Samukonga did not expect himself to finish third but pushed hard enough to eventually mint bronze.
With his tagline being “Mulungu pa Sogolo,” he has thanked God for making it possible for him to mint bronze at his first ever Olympics, further expressing hope that Zambians back home are proud of him.
The 2024 400m Olympic Bronze medalist, Samukonga, has become the first Zambian athlete to mint an Olympic medal after 27 years.
