HRC CONDEMNS RISING POLITICAL VIOLENCE AFTER LUBINDA ATTACK

.

The Human Rights Commission (HRC) has expressed deep concern over the growing cases of political violence in the country, following the recent harassment of Patriotic Front (PF) acting president Given Lubinda in Kabwe and the earlier attack at the party’s secretariat in Lusaka.

In a statement, HRC Chairperson Dr. Pamela Sambo described the manhandling of Mr. Lubinda by a group of youths as dehumanizing and degrading, saying the incident violates his right to personal security and privacy.

The HRC has urged the Zambia Police Service to swiftly arrest the individuals involved, noting that some perpetrators are visibly identifiable in a viral video capturing the attack.
