
President Hakainde Hichilema says Zambia must approach local content with clarity and purpose as the nation pursues a growth agenda designed to benefit all, including investors in the mining, energy, and agriculture sectors.
The President emphasized the importance of ensuring that key investments translate into broader economic benefits for the population. He cited Qatar as an example of a country that has effectively leveraged its oil and gas resources to improve the lives of its citizens, describing it as a model of responsible business.
Speaking when World Bank and mining experts paid a courtesy call on him at State House, President Hichilema noted that enhancing local content is also critical for increasing treasury revenue.
Meanwhile, World Bank Country Manager Ackim Fock commended the government’s achievements in the mining sector. He noted that, through sound policy implementation, President Hichilema’s administration has successfully revitalized the sector.
