The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has added more counts in the corruption trial of former economic advisor to President Edgar Lungu, Hibeene Mwiinga, in which he stands charged with allegations of acquiring properties reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime valued at more than forty-one million two thirty-nine million dollars ($41,239, 000).
Initially, the matter had 66 counts but the said counts have now gone up to 72.
Earlier, Mr. Hibeene was jointly charged with his Wife Mercy and Son Hakaantu.
But the commission has added Hichikay Farm Limited Company represented by Hendrix Hibeene on the allegations of being in possession of motor vehicles suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Arising from that, Mr. Mwiinga will be facing 21 counts, his wife will face nine counts, son thirteen counts and Hichikay Farm Limited Company with 22 counts.
And when the matter came up for fresh plea, all the accused people denied the allegations and their trial will commence on December 15, 2022.
Meanwhile, trial has commenced in a matter in which former President Edgar Lungu’s political advisor Kaizer Zulu is accused of concealing a government vehicle with a State House Transport Officer Chrispine Bwalya alleging that Mr. Zulu did not avail documents to prove that he had purchased the said vehicle.
