Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema is expected in Kazungula this Tuesday, February 24, 2026, for the launch of the Kazungula Bridge Authority (KBA).
President Hichilema will jointly launch the KBA with his Botswana counterpart, President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko.
Confirming the President’s visit during a media briefing in Botswan, on Monday February 23, 2026, Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Charles Milupi said the Kazungula Bridge has significantly contributed to the economies of member states and enhanced regional trade since its commissioning.
Mr. Milupi also defended the composition of the newly appointed board, stating that it comprises a diverse team of seasoned professionals drawn from various fields of expertise.
He has added that once operational, the KBA will harmonise customs and immigration procedures between the two countries, ensuring the seamless and efficient movement of people and goods.
