Stakeholders in the mining sector have charged that the UPND government underestimated the problems facing Mopani and Konkola Copper Mines hence the delay to resolve the issues affecting the mines.
Anthropologist and Mining Expert James Musonda says the government should admit if it has failed to unlock the two giant mining firms.
Mr. Musonda adds that unlike keeping people in suspense whose livelihoods depend on the two mines, the government should communicate the challenges that have stalled the negotiations.
Meanwhile, UPND Chairman for Mines and Freedom Fighter Percy Chanda has urged experts and politicians to comment on the two mines with caution as careless statements may hurt efforts being made to resolve challenges surrounding the two mining firms.
