The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) says nine foreign suspects involved in the Goldgate scandal allegedly kept at a known luxurious government lodge in Lusaka’s Kalundu area, are in safe custody.

The Commission’s Director General, Nason Banda, who could neither confirm nor deny that the said suspects are at the said lodge, says investigations have continued in the matter.

Mr. Banda, however, says all the suspects will soon appear before court for their trial.

Lawyers representing one of the suspects, Shadreck Kasanda, have written to Inspector General of Police, Graphel Musamba, on allegation that foreign nationals allegedly involved in this matter have been moved from Chelston Police Station to a government luxury lodge.

According to a letter authored by Makebi Zulu Advocates, dated August 25, 2023, the foreign suspects are reported to be held at the said alleged lodge located in the affluent Township of Kalundu, in Lusaka.
