The new Commonwealth Secretary-General is Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, who is the current Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
She replaces British politician and lawyer Patricia Scotland.
Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey studied at the University of Ghana, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Psychology.
She also studied at the University of Kent in the United Kingdom, where she earned a Master’s Degree in International Relations.
