Former Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) is recovering well at Maina Soko Medical Centre. According to Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana, medical staff have confirmed that Mr. Mwamba is stable, in high spirits, and not in a critical condition.
Speaking during a visit to the hospital, Mr. Kawana dismissed false reports circulating on social media claiming that the former Defence Minister had passed away. He emphasized that such misinformation is not only harmful but also deeply distressing to the affected families.
Mr. Kawana further warned that the government is intensifying efforts to strengthen cybersecurity laws. He noted that individuals who deliberately spread false information online will soon face stiffer penalties, as authorities move to protect the public from the dangers of digital misinformation.
