National Action for Quality Education (NAQEZ) Executive Director, Aaron Chansa, has noted, with concern, that schools have not received free education grants, as they commence the 2023 learning calendar.
Mr. Chansa says failure by the Ministry of Finance to release free education grants, to all Secondary and Primary Schools in the country, is dangerous, and causing serious operational challenges.
He notes that, as opposed to 2022, when the treasury directly, and timely, sent money to schools, the situation is different for them to purchase necessary requisites.
Mr. Chansa has also expressed worry over the rising cases of COVID-19, urging the Ministry of Finance to quickly mobilize funds to enable schools to afford hand sanitizers for learners and teachers.
