The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has purchased a total of 20 million empty grain bags for the packaging of Grade A white maize during this year’s ongoing crop marketing season.
FRA Public Relations Coordinator John Chipandwe says the 20 million empty grain bags are sufficient for the Agency to purchase 1 million metric tonnes of maize.
Mr. Chipandwe has attributed the delays to deliver empty grain bags to technical processes between the Manufacturers and the Agency.
He has encouraged farmers country-wide to continue delivering their maize to FRA designate depots as adequate measures to receive the stock have been put in place.
