Police have arrested four people in connection with illegal land allocation in the troubled Kampasa area of Chongwe District.
Police Deputy Spokesperson, Danny Mwale, has told Diamond News that investigations are still ongoing, to establish the depth of the scam that has been fuelling resistance.
Mr. Mwale warns that his officers will not relent until law and order is restored.He adds that the police presence is meant to maintain peace, after an irate group of people earlier clashed with the owner of the disputed land.
On Monday, February 20, 2023, over 1,500 residents of Kampasa shared residential plots on the controversial land, barely a few weeks after five people were detained by police over illegal land allocation.In 2013 three people were shot dead by security officers during a scuffle over the same land.
