An Executor and Trustee of the estate of former President Levy Patrick Mwanawasa has asked the court to discontinue the matter in which he sued the state demanding for an amendment of the lease in respect of the late President’s retirement property.

In a notice of discontinuance filed on May 11, 2O23, Constantine Chimuka did not state any reasons over the decision but gave the court a notice to have the matter discontinued.

Earlier, the state through Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha had asked the court to cancel the certificate of the former President’s retirement property saying it was erroneously issued to former First Lady Maureen Mwanawasa.

The said certificate was recently issued to the University of Lusaka Limited (UNILUS) after Ms. Mwanawasa allegedly failed to pay back borrowed money from shylocks in 2017 amounting to K 1.2 million and used the retirement property as collateral.
