Fired Director of Public Prosecutions DPP Lilian Siyuni has filed a petition before the Constitutional Court seeking among other reliefs an order that the Judicial Complaints Commission JCC hearing against her is null and void.

She says this is because the said proceedings were not prosecuted by the attorney general as the chief legal adviser to the government.

Mrs. Siyunyi also wants an order of the court that the decision by the commission to hear her alone in her defence after being found with a case to answer which led to her suspension by the President is unconstitutional and in direct breach of article 144 (4) (a) of the Constitution of Zambia Act No.2 of 2016 and therefore the proceedings that ensued are null and void among other reliefs.

On Friday, President Hakainde Hichilema fired Ms. Siyuni after recommendations contained in a report from the Judicial Complaints Commission JCC.
