The former Director General of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Tom Shamakamba, has dragged former ACC commissioner, Dr O’Brien Kaaba, demanding damages for libel in the sum of 500 million dollars.
Mr. Shamakamba has cited Daily Revelation Newspaper as the first defendant.
In his statement of claim filed at the Lusaka High Court, Mr. Shamakamba wants an order that the article published by Daily Revelation Newspaper dated July 15 and 16, 2024, titled “ACC DG MUCHENDE GETTING KICKBACKS -BOARD MEMBER” is libelous and must be retracted.
He also wants an order that Dr Kaaba and Daily Revelation Newspaper render an apology in a widely circulated newspaper and on a famous Facebook page.
He says the published article which was affirmed by Dr Kaaba in an interview meant that he was a corrupt person, he received illegal actuaries, he is a compromised person or captured by corrupt persons or institutions and incapable of fighting corruption and that he was in a syndicate that shields corruption.
