Government has evacuated five survivors of the Nsama-Nsumbu Road accident that claimed 23 lives in the early hours of Monday, September 19, 2022.

Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo, who received the patients at the ZAF Base Airport says government will ensure the victims who need specialist treatment will receive proper healthcare.

The minister and senior officials alongside the media witnessed a somber task as medical personnel moved the survivors from the ZAF plane to waiting ambulances.

The five will be admitted to the University Teaching and Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospitals.

23 women that perished were part of the 58 United Church of Zambia (UCZ) congregants who were enroute to Nsumbu when the driver of the canter ferrying them lost control along the hilly Nsama-Nsumbu gravel road.
