The Movement for Democratic Change-MDC leader Felix Mutati has withdrawn the party chairmanship from Sam Moyo.
This comes after Mr. Moyo challenged Mr. Mutati to resign from the party and focus on his ministerial duties in the UPND government.
Addressing the media at a briefing in Lusaka Sunday, Mr. Mutati says the decision to strip Mr. Moyo off his position has been decided in accordance with the party constitution.
Mr. Mutati says the MDC party has a constitution which clearly outlines how a leader is elected and that those who wish to take over the party leadership need to follow the led down procedure and not rush to issue unsubstantiated statements.
On 4th September this month, Mr. Moyo called for the resignation of Mr. Mutati as party president and declared all party appointments null and void until the party holds its national executive committee meeting
