Over 70 households in Kitwe’s Luyando area face possible demolition amid a land ownership dispute involving a Chinese investor.
Area Councillor Stephen Chingalika has appealed for government intervention, alleging that the investor’s project is encroaching on residential plots originally reserved for industrial use.
He says residents feel marginalized in favour of foreign interests.
However, Phesto Musonda, speaking to Diamond News, insisted the land allocation is legal and accused Chingalika of fuelling tension by backing illegal structures.
