A 6-year-old girl in Lundazi district has been defiled by her biological father and infected her with syphilis.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba has confirmed that the incident was reported to Police on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
When the girl went to a local health clinic with symptoms of reactive syphilis.
Medical examination led staff to suspect sexual abuse, prompting an interview with the child separate from her father.
The child stated that the assaults occurred repeatedly over a nearly two-week period earlier this month.
The alleged abuse took place in the family’s village in Lundazi District.
Mr. Mweemba says the suspect, identified as Mwabi Ngoma, 41, was also examined at the clinic and was found to have the same infection.
Mr. Mweemba says the father has been arrested and expected to face charges of incest.
