Zambia’s energy sector is poised for a significant boost following the approval of forty-five energy licenses and ten construction permits by the Energy Regulation Board (ERB), representing a total investment commitment of ZMW 1.36 Billion, equivalent to approximately US$49 million.
In a statement, ERB Public Relations Manager Namukolo Kasumpa says the approvals, granted during the ERB Licensing Committee meeting held on 16 May 2025, span the petroleum, electricity, and renewable energy sub-sectors.
The project, valued at US$27.5 million, will be executed in four phases of 25 MWp each and is expected to contribute significantly to Zambia’s renewable energy capacity.
