World Animal Protection has charged that there is need to embrace mindset change to promote animal welfare.

Speaking during a workshop on the hidden health impact of industrial livestock system report held in Lusaka, Farming Campaigns Manager Dr. Victor Yamo notes that the attitude towards animals among humans, determines animal wellness, especially those being domesticated for consumption.

Dr. Yamo also reveals that 70 percent of diseases in humans are caused by animals and if not properly managed it becomes difficult to manage it in humans.

Meanwhile, Zambias Commonwealth Veterinary Association Councilor Dr Joshua Ngwisha says a lot needs to be done to sensitize rural areas on the importance of promoting animal welfare and wellness.
